It's been a week since Arjun's latest outing, Blast, premiered on Netflix. Preity Mukhundhan, who headlined the film with Arjun and Abhirami, has now moved on to her next theatrical release, Idhayam Murali.

In a recent promotional event for the Atharvaa-starrer, Preity opened up about picking Blast and called her choice "unconventional". She spoke to Behindwoods along with Idhayam Murali's other female lead, Kayadu Lohar.

On choosing Subash K Raj's directorial debut, she said, "Blast was an unconventional decision. Many heroines in my place would have feared to take up a role like this. I’ve always wanted to do an action-oriented role, so I was extremely happy and grateful for the audience’s response after the release."

Further, when asked if her role in Idhayam Murali would feature any similarities, she added, "I had signed Idhayam Murali even before doing Blast, and my character in this film will be much more pleasant and completely contrasting to what audiences saw in Blast."

The story of Blast follows a family of fighters who are embroiled in a larger conspiracy and are forced to go up against a crime syndicate in a fight for survival. The film's cast also includes Vivek Prasanna, John Kokken, Arjun Chidambaram, Pawan, and Dileepan, among others.

Idhayam Murali, which marks the directorial debut of Aakash Bhaskaran, is also backed by him under the Dawn Pictures banner. Aakash previously worked with Atharvaa as the producer of Parasakthi. Idhayam Murali also stars Fahadh Faasil, Thaman, Rakshan, Dravid Selvam, Sudhakar, and Angeline, among others. The film is gearing up to open in theatres on July 10.

Meanwhile, after Idhayam Murali, Preity Mukhundhan has her sophomore Telugu film Emo Emo Idi, in which she stars alongside Roshan Meka. In Tamil, she has Dashamakan with Harish Kalyan. She will also be making her Hindi debut with Naagzilla.
