Vishnuu Vishal, last seen in Aaryan, is currently busy promoting Gatta Kusthi 2, the sequel to his 2022 film of the same name. Also headlined by Aishwarya Lekshmi, the Chella Ayavu directorial is gearing up for release on July 3.

Meanwhile, the Lal Salaam actor has exclusively opened up to CE about his collaborations with director Ramkumar, including Mundasupatti, Ratsasan and the upcoming Irandu Vaanam. The actor-producer revealed a few shocking details about Ratsasan and how he came onboard the film.

Speaking about how he picked Mundasupatti, he said, “Take a film like Mundasupatti. If someone told you the climax is that an entire village gets scared of a camera and runs away, you’d wonder – how could that possibly work? But it did."

He then revealed he was the 18th actor to whom Ramkumar narrated Ratsasan. "Take Ratsasan too. 17 heroes rejected it, and 22 producers turned it down. But when I first heard the story, I immediately felt it was an excellent script. I didn’t do it at that stage because back then the protagonist was written as a straight-up police officer. Later, Ram reworked it and changed it into an assistant director who becomes a police officer. But even the first time I heard it, I said it was a fantastic story," he recalled.

Vishnuu then shared that even for Irandu Vaanam, Ramkumar approached many different actors trying to pitch his story before he called him for a narration. "I sat in this office and listened to the narration for seven hours. After hearing it, I shook Ram’s hand and said, ‘I’ll do it. This is extraordinary.’ He was surprised and asked, ‘How are you saying this? Nobody has even shown interest in this story,'" he said, adding that he loved the story.

"And now, it has come out so beautifully. Maybe that’s how the stories I choose are — stories that have not been told before. That’s how I think about it," he explained.

Apart from Gatta Kusthi 2 and Irandu Vaanam, Vishnuu Vishal previously signed up with Arunraja Kamaraj for a film and Bachelor-fame Sathish Selvakumar for another. While both films were announced in 2024, updates about the same have been sparse. He also has the long-delayed Mohandas in the pipeline.
