After centring its humour and conflict around a woman breaking stereotypes in the first film, Gatta Kusthi 2 is set to approach relationships from a different perspective. Actor Vishnuu Vishal has revealed that the sequel will shift its gaze and explore a new dynamic between men and women.

Speaking to IANS ahead of the film’s July 3 release, Vishnuu said the second instalment is designed to move beyond repeating the themes of the original and instead examine ideas of responsibility, power and partnership within relationships.

“The first part was largely about the woman. This time, it is about the man,” he said, adding that the intention was not to counter the previous film but to present another side of the conversation.

According to the actor, the sequel touches upon how power often develops inside relationships—not through dominance, but through responsibility. “With money comes power. Whoever earns tends to have more influence, whether that’s the man or the woman. But the film doesn’t see that as misuse of power. It comes from responsibility—doing what you think is right for the family,” he explained.

Vishnuu added that the film attempts to discuss what he described as a different kind of politics between men and women, while clarifying that the comedy is not aimed at making men the butt of the joke.

As per the teaser of Gatta Kusthi 2, Vishnuu’s character in the sequel will be that of a house husband, with the film blending sports drama elements with domestic comedy and everyday relationship conflicts.

Directed once again by Chella Ayyavu, Gatta Kusthi 2 brings back Vishnuu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi in lead roles. Karunas, Kali Venkat, Munishkanth and Gajaraj reprise their characters from the original, while Karunakaran, Mokksha, Zara Zyanna, Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu join the cast in a pivotal role. The technical team includes cinematographer K M Bhaskaran, composer Sean Roldan, editor Barath Vikraman and art director S Jayachandran.
