Actor Vijay's upcoming film Jana Nayagan hasn't just raised anticipation as the actor-turned-Chief Minister's swansong, but also as a reflection of his political journey and ideals. As an extension of that, the makers of the actioner have now released a new promo which features a subtle nod to the former actor's transition into politics and also has the viral hand gesture that he made at the Tamil Nadu assembly recently.
The short 18-second-long promo features Vijay fighting goons and establishing his power as the background blares the highly-popular 'Raavana Mavandaa' song. Towards the end of the video, Vijay has a blink-and-you-miss-it transition from actor Vijay playing his character in Jana Nayagan to CM C Joseph Vijay, and one if it also has the hand gesture he made at the Tamil Nadu assembly. The video, which has now been shared widely and generated millions of views, has sparked discussions on social media, leaving fans excited as well as emotional for his farewell from cinema.
The incident happened a few weeks ago when CM Vijay concluded a fiery assembly speech by dramatically imitating former CM MK Stalin's viral "it's all finished" hand gesture. Pointing to the empty opposition benches after a DMK walkout, Vijay sought the Speaker's permission before executing the slashed-hand sign, sparking cheers from TVK members.
However, it is yet to be known if the changes will be seen in the final version of the film as H Vinoth recently revealed that there have been no major changes made in Jana Nayagan, especially after the recent assembly elections.
It is well known that Jana Nayagan is hitting theatres on July 23 after a seven-month-long battle legally and with the censor board. The film recently cleared censorship formalities with an A certificate after 12 cuts/modidifications were suggested by the board. The film's uncut version will be available for audiences in the UK.
Advance booking numbers have skyrocketed across the state and has surpassed Rs 15 crore on its opening day in the domestic market. Trade website Sacnilk has predicted that the political action drama is likely to open at about Rs 50-60 crore in India.
The upcoming film boasts a star-studded ensemble featuring Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju, alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani.
