The long wait is almost over as fans and audiences are gearing up to watch actor-turned-Chief Minister Vijay's final film outing Jana Nayagan in theatres. The excitement has been palpable and advance bookings have already skyrocketed across the state. Director H Vinoth, who is also awaiting the actioner's release, has now revealed that there have been no major changes made in the film, especially after the recent assembly elections where Vijay and his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged victorious.
In a recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, H Vinoth underlined that the CBFC did not allow the creators to make any major changes to the film once the election results were declared. "We couldn't change it. The Censor Board didn't allow it. They gave clear instructions that only minor changes could be made, and the story and message should not be modified. However, compared to the leaked version, there are a few new additions that weren't cut by the censor this time," he said.
Earlier, KVN Productions' head Venkat K Narayana revealed that they added 'Honourable Chief Minister Vijay' to the recent poster for the film after multiple requests from fans and audiences. He also said that there have been a couple of changes to the film from when it was originally submitted for censorship to now, including new songs. For example, Venkat revealed that a reference to Vijay's party TVK has been added to the film. It is to be noted that KVN Productions is backing Jana Nayagan in its foray into Tamil cinema.
After a seven-month-long battle, the film cleared censorship formalities with an A certificate recently after 12 cuts/modidifications were suggested by the board. However, the film's uncut version will be available for audiences in the UK.
The upcoming film, slated to release on July 23, boasts a star-studded ensemble featuring Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju, alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani.
