Atharvaa is gearing up for the July 10 release of his film Idhayam Murali, directed by Aakash Baskaran. Ahead of its release, the actor spoke exclusively to CE about the film, working with his co-stars Preity Mukundhan and Kayadu Lohar, and more. The upcoming film is named after the actor's father Murali and his 1991 film, Idhayam, directed by Kathir.
One of the points of discussion in the interview is about the 1991 film, which is considered a cult classic now. Atharvaa said that he did not watch the film when it released back in 1991 because of his age at the time. "I was too small when it released; even if I watched it back then, I would not have understood it," the actor said.
The actor added that he watched Idhayam for the first time when he completed his 12th standard examination.
"That is when I watched it properly, although I had heard its songs before as well. I think it is one of my favourite films," the actor said with a smile.
The actor also weighed in on his favourite songs from the album of the 1991 film. "I like the 'Pottu Vaitha' song a lot. Another one of my favourites is 'April Mayilae,'" the actor said before adding that he likes the 'vibe' of the latter track.
Coming back to Idhayam Murali, the film tells a story of one-side love. The latest trailer for it hints at a storyline where Atharvaa's character, Idhaya, goes in search of her lover in a foreign land after facing rejection from her when at school. The film also stars Natty, composer Thaman S himself, Niharika NM, Sudhakar of Parithabangal fame, Yashashree Rao, singer Jonita Gandhi, and Anju Kurian, among others.
