Veteran Tamil comedian Bava Lakshmanan, whose emotional appeal over his financial and health struggles recently struck a chord with netizens, has now been provided temporary accommodation at an MLA hostel in Chennai after Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Rajmohan stepped in to assist him.

Lakshmanan, a familiar face in Tamil cinema for over three decades, has appeared in hundreds of films alongside comedians such as Vadivelu, Vivek and Goundamani. He remains best remembered for his catchphrase "Vamma Minnal" from the 2000 film Maayi and for his comic role in Anandham. Before becoming a full-time actor, Lakshmanan worked as a production manager on several director Vikraman films and was associated with more than 40 projects produced by Super Good Films.

In a recent interview, the actor opened up about the hardships he has been facing after health complications forced him away from work. Suffering from severe diabetes, Lakshmanan underwent surgery that resulted in the amputation of three toes, leaving him unable to take up acting assignments regularly. With opportunities drying up, he said he had been struggling to afford medical treatment and even secure a place to live.

The interview gained widespread attention online, particularly after Lakshmanan tearfully remarked, "If Vijayakanth sir had been alive, I would not have suffered like this." He also appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay for financial assistance.

Following the viral interview, several members of the film industry came forward to support the actor. Cool Suresh reportedly arranged a rented house and basic household necessities, while actor Jiiva and comedian KPY Bala also extended financial assistance. Businessman-actor Legend Saravanan contributed Rs 2 lakh towards Lakshmanan's medical and family expenses.

Minister Rajmohan has now added to those efforts by offering Lakshmanan temporary accommodation at the government MLA hostel in Chennai's Omandurar Government Estate. According to the actor, he has already been staying there for the past two days. Speaking about the development, Lakshmanan said, "I have been staying in the MLA hostel for the past two days. Minister Rajmohan himself made me stay. He also said that he will provide treatment and cure me soon."

The minister has also reportedly assured the actor that efforts would be made to arrange a permanent house for him within the next six months. The gesture has drawn praise on social media, with many users commending Rajmohan for personally reaching out to a senior artiste in need. Others also appreciated the timely support extended by Legend Saravanan and several members of the Tamil film fraternity during Lakshmanan's difficult phase.
