Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Minister Aadhav Arjuna has issued a scathing challenge to Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led production house Red Giant Movies. Speaking at a recent event, Aadhav Arjuna said that he, along with the party will not allow the production house to release films for the next five years.

The politician, who has previously strongly accused the company of blantant and open corruption, has now issued a strong statement. Red Giant Movies is widely associated with Udhayanidhi Stalin and has been a dominant force in Tamil film distribution over the past two decades. His statement comes at a time when the company has been criticised for its perceived dominance in Tamil cinema and the alleged influence it enjoys in film distribution and theatrical releases.

Critics have, at various times, alleged that the company enjoys disproportionate influence over film distribution, while supporters argue its success is driven by business capabilities and market demand.

This is not the first time Aadhav has issued remarks targetting the DMK. Earlier in March, he questioned why the then CM MK Stalin and his son and deputy CM Udhayanidhi were running Red Giant and why they were distributing films when they are already in power. "Wouldn't this be a conflict of interest? CM should intervene on this. If I run a business and then come into politics, I will present my balance sheet publicly. After I win, if I show Rs 200 crore revenue, it means I have misused my power. Whenever someone comes to power, they say that they should not engage in any business. They should not have any influence. You have an example in front of your eyes. Red Giant is deciding which film releases every weekend. It is run by CM's son and now, his grandson. This itself is a massive corruption," he said.

In April, Aadhav Arjuna alleged that Red Giant Movies, and his associates, was able to release the film Parasakthi. He further claimed that their film, Jana Nayagan, was stopped by the CBFC and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Aadhav also alleged that Jana Nayagan was leaked intentionally, questioning how such a leak could have occurred when, according to him, everything is under the control of the Union government. He claimed that the leak was orchestrated as an attempt to intimidate them.

Interestingly, Red Giant Movies began its foray into production with CM Vijay's Kuruvi in 2008. In 2010, the production house received back-to-back successes when all four of its distribution projects, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Madrasapattinam, Boss Engira Bhaskaran and Mynaa became commercial successes. Since 2022, films backed by Red Giant Movies have stopped featuring Udhayanidhi's name in promotional content following his appointment as Tamil Nadu's Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development. In July 2023, he officially stepped down from the company. Later, in September 2025, his son, Inban, was appointed as the new CEO. Their upcoming projects include KHxRK and Gatta Kusthi 2.
