With just two days left for the release of Mohan G's Draupathi 2, the film's female lead, Rakshana Induchoodan, has opened up about playing the titular character.

Describing the film as "career-defining", Rakshana, who made her debut with Margazhi Thingal, said as per a press note, "Portraying Draupathi in Draupathi 2 has been a career-defining journey. This character embodies grace under fire: her emotional depth and unyielding strength challenged me profoundly. My heartfelt gratitude to director Mohan G for this opportunity, producer Sola Shakkaravarthi for relentless support, and Richard Rishi sir whose commanding presence elevated every scene. Working with Natty Natraj and the entire cast felt like family.”

Richard Rishi says playing Veera Simha Kadavarayan in Draupathi 2 was "career-defining"

Draupathi 2, a spiritual sequel to Draupathi (2020), stars Richard Rishi, Natty Nataraj and Chirag Jani in the lead roles. The film is backed by Sola Shakkaravarthi under the Netaji Productions banner along with GM Film Corporation. The ensemble cast also includes Vela Ramamoorthy, Dinesh Lamba, Ganesh Gourang, Y Gee Mahendran, Barani, Deviyani Sharma, Divi, Saravanan Subbiah and Jayavel, among others.

Set against the backdrop of the Hoysala Kingdom under the rule of Veera Vallala III, the film explores the resistance of the Kadavarayas, the internal conflicts within the kingdom, and the turbulence caused by the Mughal invasion.

What To Watch This Week in Theatres: Border 2, Draupathi 2 and more

On the technical front, Draupathi 2 has music composed by Ghibran, cinematography by Philip R Sundar, editing by Devaraj, action choreography by Action Santosh, and art direction by Kamalnathan. Initially planned for a late January release, the film was brought forward to hit theatres for Pongal. However, it has now been rescheduled for January 23.

The film marks Mohan G's third collaboration with Richard Rishi after Draupathi and Rudra Thandavam. Upon release, Draupathi 2 will compete with Hot Spot 2 Much, Jockey and Maayabimbum at the box office.
