Vijay Sethupathi, who started his career as a lead actor with Thenmerku Paruvakaatru in 2010, celebrated his 48th birthday on Friday. While the actor is currently quite active on social media, there was a time when he was open about feeling compelled to delete his Facebook account.
Speaking to The Hindu ten years ago during the release of Sethupathi, he said, "I was active on Facebook for a while, responding to comments and thanking fans for their appreciation. But I found that the Facebook feed was numbing my emotions. I’d see an extraordinarily tragic news item and, even before I could react to it, see a hilarious meme right below it. This was confusing me. I wasn’t sure if I should cry or laugh. I decided to delete my account because this contradiction was affecting me as a human."
Vijay Sethupathi had two releases last year, namely Ace and Thalaivan Thalaivii. He is currently hosting the 9th season of Bigg Boss Tamil, which is set to come to an end this Sunday. Meanwhile, he is also gearing up for the release of Gandhi Talks. A silent film helmed by director Kishor Pandurang Belekar, the film also stars Arvind Swamy, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Siddharth Jadhav and is set to open in theatres on January 30.
Meanwhile, the actor also has Train, helmed by Mysskin, which is set to release sometime this year. His film with Puri Jagannadh, titled Slum Dog 33 Temple Road, is currently in post-production. He will also be seen in a cameo appearance in Rajinikanth's Jailer 2, helmed by Nelson. He recently joined the cast of Vetri Maaran's Arasan, headlined by Silambarasan.
