With just one day left for its theatrical release, anticipation for Parasakthi, which marks Sivakarthikeyan's 25th film, is running high. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film brings together a formidable ensemble cast also including Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa Murali and Sreeleela, with music by GV Prakash Kumar, for whom this film marks his 100th as composer.
Reflecting on the journey of Parasakthi, Sudha Kongara reveals that the film was met with both admiration and doubt from its earliest stages. “When the concept of Parasakthi first took shape, it encountered a spectrum of reactions, both acclaim and scepticism. The script development itself proved arduous, with many cautioning that the film might invite criticism amid logistical and creative challenges,” she says.
What ultimately propelled the film forward was inspiration drawn from a filmmaking ethos she deeply admires. “It was Mani Ratnam sir’s philosophy of ‘making the impossible possible’ that inspired me to transcend limitations and bring this vision to fruition,” Sudha adds, underlining the conviction that shaped the film’s final form.
Parasakthi is Sudha Kongara's fourth film after Drohi, Irudhi Suttru, and Soorarai Potru. The film also stars Kulappulli Leela, Prakash Belawadi, Dev Ramnath, Prithvi Rajan, Guru Somasundaram and Chetan, with cameo appearances from Rana Daggubati and Basil Joseph.
Sudha has written the film along with Arjun Nadesan, with an additional screenplay by Ganeshaa and dialogues by Madhan Karky and Shan Karuppusamy. The crew of the film includes GV Prakash as the music composer, Ravi K Chandran as the cinematographer and Sathish Surya as the editor. Aakash Baskaran is producing the film under his Dawn Pictures banner.
Dev Ramnath is serving as the creative producer, along with MP Senthel and Rhea Kongara, who are serving as executive producers. Red Giant Movies is distributing the film. Parasakthi is all set to open on the big screens on January 10.
