In her third outing as a director, Sudha Kongara goes back in time further than she had ventured before. If Soorarai Pottru (2021) was set in a time, when technology was booming, Parasakthi (2026) is set in the post-independence era, when India was still finding itself.

Speaking at the World of Parasakthi event, Sudha said, "We had period props, locations, jewellery, and even the junior artists selected on the criteria that they look like they are from the 60s. We have tried our best. But the best part of it is, I got to live in the 60s."

She added, "Parasakthi has given me everything. People who lived then were simple. The urge to earn money was less, 15 years since the independence. People had a fire and passion within them. India was a young nation and all these people fought for every right."

Sudha Kongara also spoke about a specific factor of Parasakthi. "I like the dynamics in a family. I think it is dying, with the family becoming more nuclear. In this film, we have created a typical family setup from the 60s. Something I liked to recreate," said the director.

Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi, is set to release on January 14, and stars Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela in her Tamil debut. The film will be GV Prakash Kumar's 100th film as the composer.
