This Friday marks Shanthnu's wedding anniversary. It has been 11 years since he married television anchor VJ Keerthi (Kiki), but this time, it is the first occasion he is observing the occasion without his father, Bhagyaraj. On Friday, the actor shared pictures with his wife and a combined note with his wife where he reminisced about his legendary director-writer-actor father.

"This one feels different. Our first anniversary without Appa here to bless us in person — and there’s a quiet ache in that. But I know he’s watching over us, smiling the way he always did," Shanthnu wrote.

He also spoke about the lessons he learnt from his father. "Wherever you are Appa … thank you for everything you taught me about love, patience & what it means to build a life with someone. I hope we’re making you proud and will make you proud. We are holding ourselves through the hardest year of our lives. Here’s to more years, more memories, and carrying his blessings with us always."

Recently, the actor appeared on social media to thank the audience for the warm reception for his film Balti after its digital premiere. Balti brought him back to Malayalam cinema after 2009's Angel John, co-starring Mohanlal. At the time of its OTT release, the actor said that he could not express his gratitude to the audience earlier, as he was going through a difficult phase in life. Bhagyaraj passed away on June 27, days after the death of his early film collaborator, director-screenwriter-actor Bharathiraja.

Later, Shanthnu was announced as part of the lead cast for a film titled Oru Kaidhiyin Diary, named after his father's 1985 film.
