It has been around two months since the passing of actor-director-screenwriter K Bhagyaraj. The filmmaker's death left a major void in Tamil cinema, and it was rightly recognised by the who's who of the industry. Earlier this Wednesday, his son, Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, came on video to express his gratitude to everyone who supported him during a tough stage in his life.
"The last two months have been the most difficult phase of my life. However, at a time like this, I would like to thank everyone who stood by me and my family. Either through phone calls, text, social media, or in person, thank you so much for being so supportive," Shanthnu said.
The actor's message came as part of his response to the audience for their appreciation of his Malayalam film, Balti, co-starring Shane Nigam. "Balti's OTT release, it has had such a beautiful response from all of you. Thank you to everyone for it," the actor said.
Shanthnu Bhagyaraj also noted that he could not express his gratitude in the way he wanted to at the time of the film's delayed digital premiere. "I could not express it the way I should have at the time of its release. I am sure you guys understand because I was going the hardest time of my life," the actor said.
Shanthnu also thanked every person who watched, liked, and reviewed the film in a positive light because he said, alongside his team, he needed it the most at a time like this. "Every review of yours, every message of yours reached me," the actor noted.
The actor also called Balti "a very special film" in his career and one that is close to his heart for various reasons. "If you ask me about the films I liked the most in my career, I would definitely mention it as one of them," the actor revealed. Thanking his director Unni Sivalingam, producers Santhosh T Kuruvilla and Binu George Alexander, co-stars, and technicians on Balti, the actor signed off by requesting more people to watch the film on Sony LIV.
