Vishal-starrer Magudam has ended its opening weekend on a muted note, with the film witnessing a decline in collections on its third day. After recording a gross of Rs 0.78 crore on Saturday, the film collected Rs 0.64 crore on Sunday, registering an 18 per cent drop. The film marks the directorial debut of Vishal, who took over the reins from Ravi Arasu. The latter exited the project due to creative differences. Vishal also headlines in three roles alongside Dushara Vijayan and Anjali.

According to trade estimates on Sacnilk, Magudam has collected a total India gross of Rs 2.10 crore after three days, while its net collection stands at Rs 1.84 crore. The film has recorded these numbers across 4,142 shows, with no overseas collection reported so far.

The Sunday dip came despite a marginal improvement in occupancy. The film's occupancy increased from 18.8 per cent on Saturday to 19.3 per cent on Sunday. However, its show count fell from 1,315 on Day 2 to 1,079 on Day 3, restricting its overall collection potential.

Karnataka has emerged as the film's strongest market during the opening weekend, contributing Rs 0.88 crore in the first two days. Tamil Nadu has contributed Rs 0.35 crore, while Kerala and the rest of India have contributed Rs 0.15 crore and Rs 0.01 crore, respectively, during the same period.

While Magudam managed to register some growth on Saturday, the subsequent Sunday decline suggests that the film has struggled to convert the weekend into sustained momentum. The relatively low occupancy throughout the opening weekend also points to a limited theatrical response.

An excerpt from our CE review of the film reads, "Much like Vishal's Kirubakaran caught in the strife between two warring gangs, the film too is caught between an engrossing mass masala film and the actor's political launchpad. From being a meek hero with recognisable problems like EMI and a car to the plasticity with which he is made the saviour, the film defies even the template of a nobody rising above the ranks.  Magudam ends up being a heavy crown on a shaky head."

Jayaprakash, John Vijay, Ajay, Vamsi Krishna, Abu Salim, Arjai, Vj Jhansi, Padam Kumar, Sabhumon and others star in supporting roles in Magudam. Pon Parthiban has written the dialogues for the film, along with Anandh Kumaresan writing the dialogues in Tamil and Rajesh A Moorthy writing the dialogues in Telugu. The crew of the film includes NB Srikanth as the editor and G Durairaj as the art director. Late director-producer RB Choudary's Super Good Films banner is the producer of Magudam.
