With Kara set for release in just a day, all eyes are on Dhanush and director Vignesh Raja as massive expectations are set on the period action drama. The makers are currently involved in the last leg of promotions for the film and are busy with conducting pre-release events in major cities.
During a recent event, Dhanush was bestowed with the 'Kalai Asuran' title by producer Ishari K Ganesh, a nod to his hit film Asuran from Vetri Maaran. While speaking about the same, director-actor KS Ravikumar remarked that he had given Kamal Haasan the 'Ulaga Nayagan' title in a similar way a decade ago. "I gave the title to Kamal sir in my film. Similarly, our Ishari sir gave you the title 'Kalai Asuran'. Some people like Ajith sir or Kamal sir, they don’t want titles like that," he said and noted how people still refer to them by their titles.
He later went on to ask if Dhanush had any objection for it to which Dhanush said, "Yes, sir, I don’t want anyone to call me 'Kalai Asuran'." When the director asked if he would be okay to be called as 'Asuran', he said, "It is my film, yes, but I will be happy if people call me Dhanush."
During the same event, the actor expressed massive confidence on Kara and director Vignesh Raja. He said Kara belongs to people and their issues and heaped praise on the movie. "Don't look at it as a film acted by me or directed by Vignesh Raja. This is your film. When you watch it, you will understand why I said so. It addresses people's problems in the right way. This is for the people. It will be in the entertaining space, but won't be preachy. Kara will be a high-octane thriller," he explained, adding that he is "very confident" about the film and its success.
Kara has been written by Vignesh Raja as well as Alfred Prakash. The film has Dhanush playing Karasaami aka Kara, a robber during the Gulf War of 1991 which leads to a fuel crises in Tamil Nadu, forcing him to battle for his sustenance.
Kara features Mamitha Baiju as Selli, Jayaram as Muthu Selvan, KS Ravikumar as Kandhasaami, Suraj Venjaramoodu as Bharathan, and Karunaas as Kasi Maayan, Sreeja Ravi as Dhanam, and Prithvi Pandiarajan as Murugesan. MS Bhaskar is also part of the film which has music composed by GV Prakash.
