Dhanush has acted alongside many versatile actors in his 24-year-long career including Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Sarath Kumar, Samuthirakani, Sathyaraj, Pasupathy, Revathi, Bharathiraja, Saranya Ponvannan and many others. However, acting alongside Rajkiran was a special feeling for the actor as he and the veteran share a close bond—and also an unexpected connection.

Sharing fond memories associated with the veteran, Dhanush revealed that it was Rajkiran who helped his father Kasthuri Raja get his first film En Rasavin Manasile in 1991, headlined by Rajkiran himself. Interestingly, life came a full circle for Dhanush when he directed Rajkiran in his directorial debut Pa Paandi in 2017.

"Rajkiran sir had lit a lamp for our family. I am indebted to him as he gave my father his first film. My father's first hero in his debut was my first hero in my debut as well. So, I was very happy to have had the opportunity to direct him once again in Idli Kadai," he recalled.

Dhanush further added, "He is a divine human and just being in his presence feels like you are filled with blessings. I am a lucky person to have been able to work in such close quarters with him."

Pa Paandi also featured Revathi, Prasanna, Chaya Singh, Madonna Sebastian, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Dhivyadharshini. Idli Kadai, released last year in theatres, revolved around Dhanush's character, heading back to his village to take over the idly shop owned by his father, played by Rajkiran following his demise. Both the films were met with positive reviews from audiences.

Dhanush is currently awaiting his period action drama Kara, written and directed by Vignesh Raja. It has the actor playing Karasaami aka Kara, a robber during the Gulf War of 1991 which leads to a fuel crises in Tamil Nadu, forcing him to battle for his sustenance. The film hits theatres on April 30.

Besides Kara, Dhanush has a slew of films in his line-up which includes D55 with Rajkumar Periyasamy, D56 with Tamizharasan Pachamuthu and a film with Mari Selvaraj.
