The spy film Mr X, starring Arya and directed by Manu Anand, has opened to mixed reviews from critics. According to the tracker Sacnilk, the film is yet to hit the 1 crore mark at the India box office. Meanwhile, it has won over some industry insiders. Take actor Krishna Kulasekaran, for instance.
Earlier this Saturday, the actor took to X and praised the film. "Had a blast watching Mr X !!! My best wishes to the entire team," he wrote. Adding further about the film, Krishna praised Arya's commitment and hard work to fit the part, calling his dedication 'exemplary'. The actor also urged the audience to watch the film only in theatres.
The plot follows a spy who goes against India's orders to execute its captured spy, thus uncovering a conspiracy which is likely to cause a third World War. In our Mr X review, Avinash Ramachandran wrote, "In such films, there is no points for guessing if the world will be saved… it is about the how, and even if Mr X doesn’t always hit the right notes, it never shies away from going all out with its imagination and creativity."
The film brought Arya back to Tamil cinema in a full-length role after 2023's Kathar Basha Endra Muthuramalingam. The actor had cameo roles in films such as The Boys, Thiru Manickam, and the long-delayed Madha Gaja Raja, as well as an important role in the 2024 Telugu film Saindhav.
Besides Arya, the film also stars Sarath Kumar, Manju Warrier, and Gautham Ram Karthik in key roles.
