Actor Prakash Raj is known as a staunch believer in atheism, the notion that God is nonexistent. However, a user recently alleged that Prakash is not really an atheist, citing his occasional religious practice as an example to support their views.
An X account named The Jaipur Dialogues wrote on April 01, "Prakash Raj calls himself an atheist and says he doesn't believe in God, yet performs his mother's last rites following Christian traditions."
The actor-political commentator did not mince words while responding to the user's accusations. "Yes. I don’t believe in God .. but my mother believed in her god . Who am i to deny her .. the right to be buried according to her belief. This is the basic respect we give one another. Will you Hate mongering monsters understand this," he wrote.
In a recent interview, the actor said that he has no belief in the existence of God and does not have any time to think about it either. He also said that one requires much knowledge to say whether God exists or not and suggested that he believes in fellow human beings.
Recently, Prakash Raj's mother, Suvarnalatha, passed away because of age-associated ailments. Since then, he went to a Church as part of her final rites. Subsequently, many of his past views have been questioned.
Many netizens also circulate a post dating back to January 2023, where an X account that is purported to be Prakash's handle, wrote, "Rest in peace Hiraben Modi... But you had given birth to a rascala who is spoiling India," alluding to Narendra Modi. However, Prakash called this out as a tweet that came from an anonymous account that does not belong to him. "Bigots creating a FAKE tweet in my name and abusing their own leader on April Fools Day.. The joke is on you fools," he wrote.
On the work front, he will next be seen in Jana Nayagan, opposite Vijay.
