In a shocking case of fraud, actor Suriya’s police security officer (PSO), Anthony George Prabhu, was allegedly duped of Rs 42 lakh by the star’s domestic help and her family members.
According to police, the domestic worker, identified as Sulochana, along with her son, convinced the officer to invest money by promising lucrative returns. To gain his trust, the accused initially returned 30 grams of gold after receiving a transfer of Rs 1 lakh.
Encouraged by the gesture, the officer went on to transfer Rs 42 lakh between January and February this year. However, once he began asking for his money back in March, the family vanished.
Investigations revealed that this was not an isolated case. The accused family is believed to have defrauded multiple victims across Chennai, collectively swindling nearly Rs 2 crore. Following the revelation, Suriya reportedly terminated the services of his domestic help immediately.
A formal complaint was filed in July, leading to the registration of an FIR. Police have since arrested four suspects—Balaji, Bhaskar, Sulochana, and Vijayalakshmi—all belonging to the same family and previously employed as domestic workers at Suriya’s residence. The accused are currently in judicial custody.
On the professional front, Suriya was last seen in Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro. He is presently working on Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji, which marks his 45th film, while also simultaneously shooting for Suriya 46 with filmmaker Venky Atluri.
