Composer-singer-actor GV Prakash has revealed that he rejected a key role in Dhanush's third directorial Raayan. During the audio launch of Idli Kadai, the actor's fourth film as director, GV Prakash let slip that he was offered to play Dhanush's brother in the film that he humbly rejected. Stating the reason for the same, he said, "I'm ready to play a character in Thulluvadho Ilamai 2 if Dhanush directs. But I am not ready to play a role that betrays him. That's why I refused to play the brother role in Raayan. I won't betray my friend even in film. I wouldn't join the four people who are in the list of betrayed people."
Taking to stage, Dhanush acknowledged GV Prakash stating that he was blessed to have a friend like him. "He insisted on creating timeless melodies instead of reel-based songs. In today’s world, where music often lasts just ten seconds, it’s vital to deliver quality music for the next generation. Sai Abhyankar, you’re doing remarkable work—keep crafting great melodies."
Idli Kadai features Dhanush as Murugan, Nithya Menen as Kayal, Sathyaraj as Vishnu Varadhan, Arun Vijay as Ashwin, Samuthirakani as Marisamy, Rajkiran as Sivanesan, Shalini Pandey as Meera and Parthiban as R Arivu.
Dhanush and GV Prakash are collaborating for the ninth time overall in Idli Kadai and second time this year after Nilavukku En Mel Ennadi Kobam. He recently earned the National Award for his soundtrack in Venky Atluri's Telugu-Tamil bilingual Vaathi/Sir.
The technical crew also comprises cinematographer Kiran Koushik, editor GK Prasanna, and art director Jackson.
