Mari Selvaraj's Bison, his fifth directorial, is all set to hit theatres ahead of Deepavali, on October 17. The film stars Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran in lead roles. In a recent interview, promoting the film, the filmmaker spoke about a potential collaboration with Rajinikanth.
Speaking to News18 Tamil Nadu, he shared details about his relationship with the veteran star. “I’ve met Rajini sir many times. We’ve spoken about my films and my upcoming projects, and I’ve even discussed a few stories with him. I really like him a lot. He has always made it a point to call me after my film releases to congratulate me, irrespective of whether the film stars a big or small hero. He called me after Pariyerum Perumal and Maamannan, and after Vaazhai, he even sent me a beautiful letter," he said
Further, Mari revealed that he has a story under development for the actor. "Right now, the process of conceiving a film for him is happening, but I haven’t been able to focus on it fully. Maybe he’s a bit unsure about how my pattern of work would be if he commits to being my hero. I never write stories for an actor. I write the story first and then see which actor fits into my vision. The story I have could work with both Rajini sir and Dhruv Vikram. Of course, if Rajini sir comes on board, I’ll develop it to suit his image."
He then added, "My only request to any actor is to trust me. Whether they’re a big star or a newcomer, I can only work if they have faith in my vision and the people I choose to represent on screen."
Mari's Bison also stars Rajisha Vijayan, Pasupathy, Lal and Ameer in prominent roles. The film will open in theatres alongside Pradeep Ranganathan's Dude and Harish Kalyan's Diesel. Meanwhile, Mari is set to work on Dhanush's D56 after the release of Bison.
