On day 9 of Bigg Boss Tamil 9, the infamous 'Bommai Bommai' task made a comeback, but with a twist. Instead of dolls, contestants were given masks, each representing a housemate. With only 17 slots for 18 masks, the contestant whose mask didn’t make it to the shelf would be eliminated from the task.
This time, Bigg Boss added a layer of strategy: Super Deluxe housemates were allowed to pick their own masks, while Bigg Boss housemates could not. The stakes were high, as the winning house would earn a nomination-free pass for the following week.
Right from the first round, the task turned intense and chaotic. Contestants got physical and aggressive, shoving and blocking each other to secure their masks on the shelf. Some Bigg Boss housemates even deliberately avoided placing certain masks, hoping to eliminate Super Deluxe members. The scuffle led Bigg Boss to step in with a stern warning—masks couldn’t be passed between contestants, and each person was solely responsible for placing their own mask. Since these rules were violated, the first round was disqualified.
In the second round, Sabarinathan cut a deal with the Super Deluxe team: he would help save VJ Paaru’s mask in exchange for their support in the next round. As agreed, Paaru was saved in round 2, leading to Kemy’s elimination. However, Sabarinathan double-crossed the luxury house in round 3 by deliberately picking Paaru’s mask again, this time refusing to place it, resulting in Parvathy’s elimination.
The episode ended with Bigg Boss pausing the task, to be continued on day 10. By the close of day 9, the house was charged with heated arguments, broken alliances, and mounting mistrust among contestants.
