Director Adhik Ravichandran recently spoke about his father Ravichandran's struggle in the film industry while crediting his efforts in his rise to become where he is now. The director shared an emotional moment with his father during the Galatta Golden Stars event where he was presented with a photo with Ravichandran sitting on the director's chair. "I always use my father's name beside mine in every film's credits. I believe that God has given me a good place because of my father's two-decade-long struggle to become a filmmaker," he said, expressing his wish to serve as an assistant director in his father's film someday.
Adhik also credited actor Ajith Kumar for believing in him when he was in his "minus" stage. "Ajith sir is the reason behind me standing here on this stage. It's okay to believe someone when they are at 'zero' stage, but standing with someone who was in their 'minus' stage is impossible. It's not easy for someone like him to come down from the position he is in and give an opportunity to people like me. Ajith sir is also like my father," he shared.
In a previous interview with Galatta Tamil, he elaborated how his father was intimidated for Adhik's Good Bad Ugly when he first received the opportunity, and his contributions to the film. "He was extremely happy, but after the film's pooja, he kept telling me that I should create the film well. He kept checking on me and the film at various points, probing if a particular scene or music is required. He was the one who sat through the entire post production. He put in a lot of extra efforts into this. The reason why I became a director was not because of my talent, but a boon granted to me by God that my father didn't have. I didn't face the struggle that he underwent for so many years to become a director," he said.
Meanwhile, after Good Bad Ugly, Adhik and Ajith are set to reunite for AK 64. Revealing details about the upcoming film, he said that AK64 will be much more than just fan service. "Good Bad Ugly was made purely for the fans of Ajith sir. But AK 64 won't be like that. It will be an action entertainer with a solid screenplay that will also pull in the family audience."
Good Bad Ugly, which had music by GV Prakash Kumar, also starred Trisha, Arjun Das, Sunil, Prabhu, Prasanna, Karthikeya Dev, Priya Prakash Varrier, Jackie Shroff, Shine Tom Chacko, Tinnu Anand, BS Avinash and Raghu Ram. It earned positive reviews upon release earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Ajith Kumar's 2004 action filmAttahasam is set for a re-release in theatres on October 31.
