Recently, actor and racing driver Ajith Kumar was congratulated by Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamil Nadu, Udhayanidhi Stalin. The minister also thanked him for sporting the logo of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) on his uniform.
Speaking to Akshita Nandagopal from India Today, earlier, the actor was asked about sporting the logo before the 24h series at Barcelona, for which the actor said, "The reason being that they (SDAT), conducted the first street race in Tamil Nadu last year. As a motorsport fan, the government taking an initiative to promote an event, and conduct the first night street race, was a big boost for motorsports. As a mark of gratitude I requested them if I can (add it to my uniform)."
He added, "The SDAT are doing a lot for other sports as well, not just motorsports. And I thought, what better way to express my gratitude. So it's not that they are sponsoring us. We didn't seek sponsorship (from SDAT). They have other things to take care of.
The SDAT logo is another addition to the uniform of the Ajith Kumar Racing team, which also sports a logo representing Indian cinema. The logo is symbolised by a film reel and a clapboard, and says, "World's Largest Producer of Films in over 20 Indian Languages."
The team is gearing up for the Asian Le Mans Series, which is set to happen across three cities, from December 2025 to February 2026. Racing veteran Narain Karthikeyan will race alongside Ajith Kumar for the Asian Le Mans.
