The shooting for The Trainer, the upcoming action-packed thriller directed by P Velmanikkam, has been successfully wrapped up. The film, produced by Neela under the TransIndia Media & Entertainment Pvt Ltd banner, stars Srikanth and Shaam in the lead roles.
Inspired by the Tamil Nadu Police’s Kaavalan app initiative, the film is said to weave social awareness into a gripping, high-stakes narrative. As per an official press note from the team, The Trainer features Srikanth in a never-seen-before avatar as a dog trainer, accompanied by a highly skilled canine named Lee, who plays a crucial role throughout the story. Shaam, on the other hand, essays the role of a police officer tasked with solving a series of crimes.
At its core, the story revolves around a mysterious criminal gang operating under the influence of an acupuncture doctor. The protagonist, who possesses the rare ability to identify individuals through their sweat, runs an orphanage and finds himself framed for the crimes being investigated by the police. When the gang targets the woman he loves, he is forced to fight back, clear his name, and protect those under his care. The narrative is set to build up to an emotionally charged and intense climax.
As per the makers, the film will be loaded with action, featuring at least eight adrenaline-fuelled stunt sequences. The supporting cast includes Pujitha Ponnda, Anjana Kirthi, Junior MGR, Vagai Chandrasekar, and Sai Dheena. On the technical front, the film’s cinematography is handled by Arunmozhi Cholan, editing by Niranjan Antony, and music composed by Karthik Raja, the elder son of composer Ilaiyaraaja.
