
Even as director Abishan Jeevinth's Tourist Family continued to set cash registers to ring at the box office, Telugu star Nani early on Tuesday morning joined a long list of top actors who had expressed their appreciation for the film.
Taking to his X timeline, Nani wrote, "Simple, heart warming films with lot of goodness is what we deserve and Tourist Family delivers just that. Thanking the whole cast and crew who made this gem of a film. Much needed."
Abishan Jeevinth, who was overwhelmed by the appreciation from the star, replied saying, "Sir, this was totally unexpected! Thank you so much for the encouragement — your tweet truly made our day! We’re feeling extra grateful and super motivated!"
Earlier, Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Sivakarthikeyan, SS Rajamouli, Suriya and other celebrities had praised the film stating its importance in the lesson of humanity. The film had a dream run at the box office, earning over Rs 75 crore worldwide. This is a sizeable collection for the film which was made on a reported budget of Rs 16 crore.
Tourist Family, starring Sasikumar and Simran in the lead, revolves around a Tamil family fleeing Sri Lanka due to the island nation's post-Covid economic crisis and making a livelihood in Tamil Nadu. How the family and community come together in the face of adversity forms the plot of this film.
The film, released on May 1, also stars Yogi Babu, Mithun Jai Sankar, Kamalesh, MS Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak, Bagavathi Perumal, Elango Kumaravel and Sreeja Ravi.
