The trailer of Akkenam, which dropped on Saturday, introduces Keerthi Pandian as Indra, a cab driver and a mother to a young girl, who finds herself on the run, pursued by characters played by Arun Pandian and Adithya Shivpink.
Directed by debutant Uday K, Akkenam marks the onscreen reunion of real-life father-daughter duo Arun Pandian and Keerthi Pandian after Anbirkiniyal, the Tamil remake of Helen.
The trailer hints at a tense, action-packed narrative where the lives of the three leads—Keerthi, Arun, and Adithya—collide due to a series of fateful choices. Speaking to Cinema Express earlier, Uday explained the title, Akkenam, as a verbal translation of “Aayutha Ezhuthu”, referring to the three symbolic dots. “These three dots represent the central characters and the web of revenge that ties them together. “It’s an action-revenge drama with a gripping screenplay,” he said.
Before this feature debut, Uday directed the 2022 short film Yakkai Thiri, starring Dushara Vijayan, which garnered critical appreciation.
The supporting cast includes Ramesh Thilak, GM Sundar, Adithya Menon, and Seetha. The film’s technical crew features cinematographer Vignesh Govindarajan, music composer Barath Veeraraghavan, editor Devathyan, and art director Raja.
Akkenam is slated for a theatrical release on July 4, clashing with Siddharth-Sri Ganesh’s 3BHK and Shiva-Ram’s Paranthu Po.
