After a successful theatrical run, Abishan Jeevinth’s debut directorial, Tourist Family, is currently doing wonders even after premiering on OTT. The film, starring Sasikumar and Simran in lead roles, has been receiving acclaim from the general public and film personalities alike. On Saturday, Abishan shared the news of Telugu actor Nani meeting him and addressing him about the film’s success. As a cherry on top, the director has now shared details about his meeting with veteran actor Rajinikanth.
Sharing photos of him with the senior actor on his Instagram handle, Abishan wrote, “The very reason I stepped into cinema feels fulfilled today. The way he called my name and hugged me – goosebumps all over. His one smile felt like every prayer I made as a child had finally arrived late but exactly WHEN I NEEDED IT. What a man, what a symbol of simplicity and greatness. Can’t ask for a bigger motivation or blessing than this moment. Love you forever, Thalaiva Rajinikanth, sir.”
He further also thanked his producer for arranging the meeting, while also mentioning Rajinikanth’s daughter and director Soundarya Rajinikanth. “Thank you so much to my producer Magesh Raj Anna for this love and meeting. Thanks for being the best big brother. Soundarya Rajinikanth Mam, you’re the best! I’m so glad I got to meet you. Grateful" (sic)
Previously, when the film had just hit theatres, actor Sasikumar shared that Rajinikanth personally commended the film. He wrote on X, "It’s always heartwarming to hear people saying that the film is super. But if Superstar himself says a movie is super, how can one even begin to describe that joy? After appreciating Ayothi and Nandhan, Rajini sir, in a hat-trick of delight, watched Tourist Family and emphatically said, ‘Suuuuper Sasikumar…’"

Tourist Family revolves around a Tamil family fleeing Sri Lanka due to the island nation's post-Covid economic crisis and making a livelihood in Tamil Nadu. How the family and community come together in the face of adversity forms the plot of this film.
The film also stars Yogi Babu, Mithun Jai Sankar, Kamalesh, MS Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak, Bagavathi Perumal, Elango Kumaravel and Sreeja Ravi.
