Vijay's much-anticipated upcoming film Jana Nayagan is inching towards completion of filming, with the actor-politician reportedly wrapping up his portions for the film on Monday. It marked an emotional moment for his fans as it marks his last film before his full-fledged entry into politics.
While official photos from the sets are expected to be released by the makers soon, it has been reported that Vijay had a quiet celebration sans fanfare where cakes weren't cut.
Directed by H Vinoth in his first collaboration with Vijay, Jana Nayagan is said to be a political action film. It went on floors on October 2024 and no other plot details have been revealed by the makers.
The film also stars Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mamitha Baiju, and Narain. The film reunites Vijay with Prakash Raj after Varisu, Pooja Hegde after Beast, and Gautham Vasudev Menon after Leo. The film also reportedly stars actor Revathy as Vijay's mother. Revathi's previous collaboration with Vijay was in the 2002 film Thamizhan, where she played his sister.
On the technical front, Jana Nayagan features music composed by Anirudh, cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan, editing by Pradeep E Ragav, action choreography by Anl Arasu, art direction by Selva Kumar, and costumes designed by Pallavi Singh.
Jana Nayagan is produced by Venkat K Narayana and co-produced by Lohith N K and Jagadish Palanisamy.
The film will be released in theatres on January 9, 2026 for the Pongal festival season.
