Filmmaker AR Murugadoss recently talked about how actors such as Suriya, Ajith Kumar, and Rajinikanth took a special effort to ensure authenticity in characterisation, fight and dance sequences in their films with him. Speaking to Sudhir Srinivasan, Murugadoss said that each of these actors has shot for the respective film without any special breaks in between, despite enduring some physical toll. He reminisced about the time when Suriya slipped and hurt his knee while doing a stunt sequence for Ghajini in Besant Nagar. Likewise, the filmmaker revealed that Ajith Kumar experienced considerable back pain during the production of their film Dheena. "He even came in an ambulance for dubbing," Murugadoss said about his Dheena star.
AR Murugadoss also recalled an incident when Rajinikanth, after a major surgery, went the extra mile for a scene in Dharavi for Darbar. The filmmaker revealed that he told Rajinikanth that the shot could be completed with cuts but that the superstar insisted on filming it in one-stretch. The director also disclosed that Rajinikanth insisted on filming a scene where his character threw a big chair without any cuts. "It went so far," the filmmaker said.
Murugadoss last directed Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan. In the recent conversation, he also hinted at his next potential project.
