In a recent interview, AR Murugadoss spoke about how Vijay was innovative with his dialogue delivery. Vijay and AR Murugadoss have collaborated thrice, on Thuppaki (2012), Kaththi (2014), and Sarkar (2018).
In an interview with Sudhir Srinivasan, the director said, "In all the three films that I did with Vijay sir, he delivers dialogues without changing one syllable. He always surprises with his delivery, with those dialogues."
The director quoted Vijay's dialogue from Thuppaki (2018), "I'm waiting", as one of those surprising moments. "I always thought of that dialogue as very normal. After lines of dialogue from the villain, the hero speaks only one word. So, I never imagined that it would carry over to multiple films, and inspire multiple versions," said the director.
AR Murugadoss reunited with the villain from Thuppaki, Vidyut Jammwal, for his latest directorial, Madharaasi. Meanwhile, Vijay is set to retire from acting after Jana Nayagan, which is set to release on January 9.
