With eight days to go for the release of Sivakarthikeyan's much-anticipated Parasakthi, the Madras High Court has declined to stay the release of period drama.

A petition seeking to restrain the film’s release came up for hearing on Friday before Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy. After hearing detailed submissions from all parties, the Court declined to grant an injunction, thereby clearing the way for the makers to proceed with the film’s release without impediment.

Senior Advocate PS Raman, appearing on behalf of director Sudha Kongara, instructed by Advocate Vijayan Subramanian, and Senior Advocate Aravind Pandikkan, appearing for producer Dawn Pictures, also instructed by Advocate Vijayan Subramanian, represented the respondents before the Court.

Set in the 1960s, Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara, is said to revolve around the anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu. Sivakarthikeyan stars alongside Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela for the first time, with the latter making her Tamil debut and marks the first time Ravi Mohan plays an antagonist. Atharvaa will also be seen playing a key role.

In an earlier interview, Sudha Kongara explained that Parasakthi is not just a political film. "It is also a beautiful story about the bond between two brothers, Sivakarthikeyan and Atharvaa. There is also a strong love angle in the film. Sivakarthikeyan plays a government employee, and Atharvaa plays an engineering student. Both characters have different principles and face conflicts. Sreeleela plays the minister’s daughter, and love plays an important role in the story," she said.
