Arun Vijay, who earlier had Vanangaan hit theatres at the beginning of the year, is returning back to the big screen with Retta Thala, helmed by Kris Thirukumaran. True to the title, the actor will be seen in dual characters in the upcoming action thriller. In a recent exclusive interview with CE, the Thadam actor opened up about what to expect from Retta Thala.
He explained, "Retta Thala is an action thriller with several layers, where love also plays a crucial role in the narrative. I play two characters, one that operates in the open and another that remains hidden, and the circumstances under which they come together shape the twists and turns of the story. It’s a fast-paced, screenplay-driven film that constantly keeps you guessing. Just when you think you’ve figured out where it’s headed, it takes you by surprise. Our aim was to bring audiences back to theatres, and we’ve put in our best effort to ensure the film is technically strong, while also weaving in engaging elements throughout to keep viewers hooked."
Retta Thala director Kris Thirukumaran made his directorial debut with Sivakarthikeyan's Maan Karate (2014) and then made Gethu (2016), starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Amy Jackson, and Sathyaraj. Before filmmaking, Kris served as an assistant director to AR Murugadoss in Gajini, Ezham Arivu, Thuppakki, and Sarkar.
In pivotal roles, Retta Thala also stars Siddhi Idnani, Tanya Ravichandran and Kannada actor Yogesh, who is making his Tamil debut. The star cast is rounded out by John Vijay, Hareesh Peradi, and Balaji Murugadoss. The technical crew of the film consists of music director Sam CS, cinematographer Tijo Tomy, editor Anthony, and stunt choreographers Anbariv.
Retta Thala is gearing up to hit theatres on December 25, opening in theatres alongside Vikram Prabhu's Sirai.
