Actor Siddhi Idnani is coming back to Tamil cinema for the first time after 2023's Kathar Basha Endra Muthuramalingam with a role in director Kris Thirukumaran's upcoming film Retta Thala, co-starring Arun Vijay. The actor made some candid comments about her career at a recent promotional event for the film. "After my first film, I did not take the responsibilities towards cinema all that seriously. Frankly, I became a little 'relaxed' about it, with a taken-for-granted mindset," Siddhi said. She went on to talk about the importance of having a constant sense of hunger for improvement, no matter what capacity you work in, whether it be an actor, a producer or a director. The actor said that an offer for Retta Thala came to her when she realised that she was lacking that hunger.

Talking about her role in the film, Siddhi Idnani said that it is a "strong" character with a purpose in the story who "stands her ground" no matter what situation arises. "She does not come onscreen just for the sake of it. In a way, she is the film's driving force. It was an honour and a pleasure to play such a potent character," Siddhi said about her role in the film.

Siddhi also said that she does not wish to do what heroines are usually asked to do in commercial films, such as dance, act in some love scenes, and simply "vanish" from the plot. "I want to show that even women characters have a driving force and bring value to the films." The actor expressed her gratitude to Aditi Ravichandran and to director Kris for choosing her for the film based on Aditi's recommendation.

Retta Thala marks Kris Thirukumaran's directorial comeback after helming films such as Maan Karate (2014) and Gethu (2016), starring Sivakarthikeyan and Udhayanidhi Stalin, respectively. The film is scheduled for a December 25 release in theatres.
