GV Prakash's Blackmail, which was earlier scheduled to release on August 1, now has a new release date. The actor-composer announced that the thriller, directed by Mu Maran, will now hit theatres on September 12.
Mu Maran has previously helmed Iravukku Aayiram Kangal starring Arulnidhi and Kannai Nambathey starring Udhayanidhi Stalin. Blackmail marks his third directorial.
Produced by A Deivakani and Jayakkodi Amalraj under the JDS Film Factory, Blackmail promises to be a gripping thriller that will have "unexpected twists and turns." The trailer revolved around an abducted child and GV Prakash's character being wrongfully accused for it. Bindu Madhavi and Teju Ashwini's characters' lives are also thrown upside down after the incident while Srikanth seems to be playing the villain.
Talking about the experience of working on the film, GV Prakash said in a statement, "As for my role, acting in this film felt instinctively comfortable, I could feel and envision my character’s arc with ease, thanks to Mu Maran’s clear vision and the way he has meticulously crafted every layer of my role. After watching the film, I truly believe audiences will even remember those with minimal screen time, because every character has been written with precision and has significance.”
The cast also features Muthukumar, Redin Kingsley, Ramesh Thilak, Hari Priya, and other notable actors.
The technical team of Blackmail includes composer, Sam CS, editor San Lokesh, and cinematographer Gokul Benoy, known for his work on the recent Jiiva-starrer Black.
