Ravichandran, the director and actor behind the superhit film Premaloka (1987), is now gearing up to recreate history with Premaloka 2. The filmmaker’s next big venture, currently in the scripting stages, will feature his elder son, Manoranjan Ravichandran, in the lead role. While Ravichandran has kept plot and other details under wraps, however, he had announced at a recent event that Premaloka 2 would be officially launched on his birthday (May 30) and that he would compose 25 songs for the film.
Meanwhile, the spotlight is on its female lead. Known for his choice of heroines, Ravichandran is recognised as one of Kannada cinema’s prominent filmmakers who has brought in top heroines from other languages. Just as he stirred excitement by casting Juhi Chawla in Premaloka, speculation about the lead female actor for the sequel by the Crazy Star is creating a sense of anticipation among the audience. Although there have been no official announcements from the team, sources suggest that Teju Ashwini might be the face of Premaloka 2.
A dancer and choreographer, Teju Ashwini gained recognition through a stint in the series Kalyana Samayal Sadham and has made a mark in Tamil cinema with films like Enna Solla Pogirai, Moondram Kan, and Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal. Sources reveal that Teju has been in and out of Bengaluru over the last six months and has been spotted in discussions with the Premaloka 2 team. She has also been seen with Manoranjan, the lead actor, a couple of times, and recently, there was a discussion of him introducing her to a few close friends from the film industry as the Premaloka 2 heroine. While awaiting official confirmation from the team, fans are eager to see if Teju will make her Kannada debut with the film.
