EXCLUSIVE | Monisha Blessy on Aamir Khan: 'He took the effort to know my name…'
A week after the release of Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie, actor Monisha Blessy, who plays a supporting character as Sathyaraj's third daughter in the film, spoke to CE in an exclusive conversation about her experience working with veterans.
Speaking about the climax scene, in which she got the opportunity to share the screen with Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan and Upendra, she shares, "I felt really blessed to be a part of the last shot, where we shared the screen with Rajinikanth sir, Upendra sir and Aamir Khan sir. While I had no dialogues, it felt surreal to be in the presence of such veterans. We shot it during sunset, and I could see silhouettes of all of them, with me standing behind these stalwarts. It was an indescribable feeling."
Further, she reveals that she had a short and sweet conversation with Aamir Khan, who played the cameo role of Dahaa in the film. "I am generally a shy person, and it takes time for me to approach people and talk to them. We only shot that climax scene for a day, so I could not muster up the courage to have a full conversation with Upendra sir. It was the same with Aamir Khan sir, but he made the effort instead. He came up to me in between takes and asked, “May I know your good name, please?” which felt very sweet to me. I told him my name and also told him that I was a fan of his work. Although limited, the conversation was wholesome nonetheless."
Monisha, who made her acting debut with Sivakarthikeyan's Maaveeran, also starred in the second season of Suzhal: The Vortex. She will next be seen in Jana Nayagan, Vijay's final film before his full-time stint in politics. Helmed by H Vinoth, the film is slated for a Pongal release. She also has two other Tamil films in the pipeline.
