Actor Sivakarthikeyan's momentary appearance in Vijay's 2024 hit film The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), was enough to spark a flurry of reactions from social media users. Vijay passing a gun to Sivakarthikeyan to hold Rajiv Menon (Actor Mohan) hostage, was interpreted as him handing over the baton of the next big actor to the Amaran star.
While Sivakarthikeyan has denied this earlier, he reiterated the same in an interview during the Nasscom People Summit 2025, the actor said, "I enjoyed that scene when it happened and when it came on screen, but it becomes a tricky question to answer as I cannot easily say that from now on I am going to take over his legacy and I will continue. It is tough."
Asserting that no one can replace the legacy of Vijay, he stated, "For more than 30 years, Vijay has worked to entertain the people. That can't be replaced. From there, I see one point alone. Vijay has seen my work for over a decade so I thought it is an appreciation from him like saying, 'Boy you are foing really well.' So I saw it as though he was saying, 'Do well. Continue this'."
Furthermore, during a Q and A session with the audience, he was asked which film of his he would like to make a second part. To this, he answered, "I am scared of sequels. If I am working on one, it should be a great script and shouldn't affect the success of the first part. But I want to try Maaveeran, because it was a very unique script."
Sivakarthikeyan, who was last seen in Rajkumar Periasamy's Amaran, is awaiting the release of two major films: Madharaasi, directed by AR Murugadoss which is slated for release on September 5, and Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi which is expected to hit theatres next year.
Vijay is meanwhile waiting for Jana Nayagan, H Vinoth's political actioner, which will be released in theatres on January 9, 2026, for the Pongal festival season. The film marks his final film outing before his full-fledged political entry.
