Malavika Mohanan revealed in a recent interview that she received a call from Rajinikanth shortly after the release of her film Master, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and co-starring Vijay. "It was two days after Master had released, and I had some missed calls from a random number. I did not even give it a second thought," said the actor in a conversation with In The Ring With Filmfare. The actor went on to add that a PR executive from Tamil cinema called her later and she picked it up because she had saved his phone number. "I picked up the call, and he was super frantic. He was like, 'Ma, Rajinikanth sir is trying to call you, and you are not picking up.'" She continued, "I did not know what to do. What do you do if you miss a call from Rajinikanth?"
The actor finally managed to call Rajinikanth back through a middle person. "He said, 'Malavika, I just saw Master, and you look so pretty. The film is such an astounding success, and I am so happy for you.'" She described the gesture from the superstar as "sweet" because she was still young in the Tamil film industry. "It was my second film in Tamil," she disclosed.
Malavika is starring opposite Mohanlal in director Sathyan Anthikad's upcoming film Hridayapoorvam. On the other hand, Rajinikanth's upcoming film is Coolie, directed by Malavika's Master director Lokesh.
