
Jammu region has been on high alert since 26 people were shot dead in Pahalgam on Tuesday. The news sent shockwaves across the country with several politicians, celebrities and other noted personalities condemning the attack.
Along with them, cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa too expressed his sadness at the aftermath of the attack and shared his condolences for the victims and their families. The noted cinematographer also recalled how Vijay's hit action film Leo was shot entirely in Pahalgam. "This is not the memory I wanted to keep with me of this beautiful little town (sic)," he shared.
As security agencies have released pictures of the four terrorists from Lashkar-e-Toiba involved in the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and defence officials have assured that the perpetrators will not be spared. Meanwhile, The Jammu and Kashmir government announced Rs 10 lakh ex gratia for each deceased’s family; Rs 2 lakh for the seriously injured and Rs 1 lakh for injured victims.
Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, featured Vijay and Trisha in lead roles, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Trisha, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Madonna Sebastian, George Maryan, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand and Mathew Thomas. It was the third instalment in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe and is partially inspired by the film A History of Violence.
Manoj Paramahamsa had cranked the camera for several films in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam. He also co-produced Halitha Shameem's 2024 film Minmini and is currently awaiting the release of Pawan Kalyan's Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1.
