Ali Fazal has wrapped up shooting for his portions in the upcoming Mani Ratnam-Kamal Haasan film, Thug Life. The film marks Ali's debut in the Tamil industry. 

In an interview with IANS, Ali Fazal spoke about working with Mani Ratnam, and how the past two months have been a learning experience for him. "It has been an absolute honour to work under Mani Ratnam sir's visionary direction. The opportunity to share the screen with icons like Kamal Hassan sir and the rest of this extraordinary cast is something I’ll cherish forever.”

Further speaking about his learning experience, he said, "The last two months have been transformative for me as an actor – learning Tamil, immersing myself in a new cinematic culture, and pushing my creative boundaries."

Thug Life also stars Silambarasan TR, Trisha, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Abhirami and Nasser. 

Thug Life marks Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan's reunion after 36 years, since their hit outing, Nayakan. The technical crew of Thug Life features cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, music director AR Rahman, editor Sreekar Prasad and action directors Anbariv.

The film is a co-production between Udhayanidhi's Red Giant Movies, Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Film International, and Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies. Details regarding the plot of Thug Life are kept under wraps. The film is all set to hit theatres on June 5, 2025. 

On the work front, Ali also has Lahore 1947 and Metro.. In Dino in the pipeline. He is also a part of Rule Breakers, in which he will share screen space with Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The film, set to hit theatres in March, is helmed by two-time Oscar-winner Bill Guttentag.
