Gautham Menon: I'd planned to direct Vivekh for a digital release

Amazon Prime Video's latest Tamil series, LOL Enga Siri Paappom, has been widely received for a variety of reasons. Predominant among them is the presence of late actor Vivekh, who hosted the reality show along with actor Shiva, but passed away in the month of April this year. The show marked Vivekh's OTT debut, and it was meant to be the first step into many more such projects in the digital space.

Filmmaker Gautham, who shared a warm camaraderie with the actor took to social media to share his experience after watching this show. He wrote, "I’d planned to make a film with Vivekh for a digital release and he’d said it will have to wait for his OTT debut LOL-Enga Siri Paappom. That was our last conversation. Remembering that as I watch his debut on OTT & what a fun outing! Here’s to Chokku & Revolver Richard."

While Chokku was the character Vivekh played in Gautham's debut, Minnale, Revolver Richard was the role essayed by the actor in Yennai Arindhaal. Incidentally, a spinoff of Yennai Arindhaal with Revolver Richard in the lead role was planned by the actor and director, but that will just remain an unfinished dream now. In a previous interaction with us, Gautham even mentioned how Vivekh was supposed to play the role played by VTV Ganesh in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya.

With Gautham working on multiple films now after a brief lull in his career, it would have been nice to see Vivekh be part of these projects, especially since the filmmaker told us that he always tried to see if Vivekh fit into his scripts.

Meanwhile, Gautham, who is currently working on the Simbu-starrer, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, has projects like Joshua - Imai Pol Kaakha and Dhruva Natchathiram in various stages of production. He is also set to work with Sivakarthikeyan for a film. Apart from his directorial ventures, he is also gearing up to add to his acting credits with films like Rudhra Thandavam.
