Gurram Paapi Reddy on OTT: When and where to watch Naresh Agastya and Faria Abdullah's crime comedy

Naresh Agastya and Faria Abdullah's latest crime comedy Gurram Paapi Reddy, which received positive reviews upon release, is all set to premiere on OTT soon. Directed by Murali Manohar, the film will start streaming on ZEE5 platform from January 16.

Gurram Paapi Reddy, which hit theatres on December 19, revolves around Naresh Agastya playing the titular role who declares bankruptcy when his chit fund company incurs losses. Soudamini (Faria), who hopes to become a doctor, also looses money, but she joins hands with Paapi Reddy to take revenge on the real culprits after realising that he too has been cheated. Paapi Reddy and Soudamini are joined by Chilipi (Vamsidhar), Military (Raj Kasireddy), and Goyyi (Jeevan Kumar), who come on board mainly for the money promised to them. The film also stars veteran comedian Brahmanandam, along with Yogi Babu, Rajendran, Jeevan Kumar and John Vijay.

Although it was widely appreciated by audiences for its humour and quirky storytelling, the film was trimmed by 20 minutes following feedback from viewers. A couple of songs and a few scenes were removed, bringing the film’s total runtime down to 2 hours and 25 minutes.

Our CE review of the film read, "Murali Manohar chooses a familiar revenge setup, centred around a man who loses everything due to the rich and the heartless. However, he gives it a slightly different treatment. Instead of physical violence, the protagonist uses his intelligence to get his money back. Though the core idea isn’t new to Telugu cinema, the director narrates it in a lighter, comedy-driven manner."

The film was backed by Venu Satti, Amar Bura, and Jayakanth (Bobby) and presented by Dr Sandhya Goli.
