The teaser of Gurram Paapi Reddy, starring Naresh Agastya and Faria Abdullah, was unveiled on Monday at a launch event, offering audiences a first glimpse into what appears to be an offbeat crime comedy. The teaser opens with Naresh as the titular Paapi Reddy, a conman who ropes in a curious crew, including Faria Abdullah, Raj Kumar Kasireddy, Vamsidhar Kosigi, and Jeevan Kumar, for an unexplained heist involving what seems to be an ancient treasure.
While the teaser keeps the central plot deliberately vague, it leans into humour and self-awareness. In one meta moment, characters themselves question the convoluted nature of Paapi Reddy’s plan, with lines that poke fun at its complexity. Veteran comedian Brahmanandam makes a special appearance as a judge, reminiscent of his celebrated role in Jathi Ratnalu, while Tamil actor Yogi Babu is seen briefly as Udraj, adding further intrigue.
Directed by Murali Manohar and produced by Venu Satti, Amar Bura, and Jayakanth (Bobby), Gurram Paapi Reddy is presented by Dr Sandhya Goli. Speaking about the project, director Murali Manohar described it as “a contemporary story bringing together humour, crime, and eccentric characters.”
Gurram Paapi Reddy features a strong supporting cast including Jeevan Kumar, John Vijay, and Motta Rajendran. With its playful tone and ensemble-driven narrative, the film appears to draw from the growing trend of experimental dark comedies in Telugu cinema.
Naresh Agastya, known for his work in films like Mathu Vadalara and Happy Birthday, takes on the lead as Paapi Reddy, a conman who anchors the chaos. The film’s release date is expected to be announced soon, with the teaser setting up what promises to be a blend of crime, wit, and unconventional storytelling.
