After winning audience's reception and making a major splash at the box office, Jiiva's latest comedy drama Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil is heading to OTT. Directed by Nithish Sahadev of Falimy-fame, TTT will start streaming on Netflix from February 12 onwards, close to a month after its theatrical release.
The film was initially slated for release on the big screens on January 30, which was later moved to January 15 for the Pongal festival. Although it faced stiff competition from other star-led films like Karthi's Vaa Vaathiyaar and Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi, TTT was met with favourable reviews from critics and audiences since its release and was praised for its storyline, humour and performances. Towards the end of its theatrical run, it earned close to Rs 40 crore and became a commercially successful film.
Our CE review of the film read, "The best thing to happen to TTT is Jiiva understanding his role well. The caution Jeevarathinam takes not to lose a single vote in the run up to the election by playing the pacifier in both households and maintaining a humble demeanour to appease both Mani and Ilavarasu were some of the spaces the film works well. This crackpot of a plot is a work of genius and the beauty of it is that it doesn't require much brainstorming. Nithish has smartly placed screenplay landmines, or laughmines if you would, by knitting together multiple occurences with the potential of a laugh riot."
Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil marks Nithish's first film after 2023's Falimy, starring Basil Joseph, Jagadish, Sandeep Pradeep, and Manju Pillai. It is also the director's first Tamil film.
Apart from Jiiva, Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, which marks the actor's 45th film in his career, also has Prathana Nathan, Thambi Ramaiah, Subramani, Jenson Dhivakar, Ilavarasu, Jaiwanth, Savithri, Sasti Pranesh, Subash Kannan, Rajesh Pandian, Manimegalai, Sarjin Kumar, Mohan, Amith Mohan, Sharath, Anuraj OB, Surjith Gopinath and Shajeer P Basheer, among others.
On the technical team, the film has music by Vishnu Vijay, cinematography by Bablu Aju and editing by Arjune Babu. Besides directing, Nithish has also written the story along with Sanjo Joseph and Anuraj OB. Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil is produced by Kannan Ravi and co-produced by Deepak Ravi.
