Prabhas-SS Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Epic has finally arrived on OTT, nearly two months after its release in theatres. The remastered two-part epic, consisting of Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), hit theatres on October 31, to commemorate the franchise's tenth anniversary. The film is now available to stream on Netflix, but only with the Hindi audio version, along with subtitles. The film's Tamil and Telugu versions are reportedly set to release on JioHotstar soon.

The film boasts an imposing runtime of 3 hours and 44 minutes, making it one of the longest theatrical experiences in modern Indian cinema and follows the story of Mahendra Baahubali as he discovers his connection to the Mahishmati empire and his journey to avenge his father's death. The film has been re-edited, remastered, and enhanced with updated sound and visuals, while retaining the heart of SS Rajamouli’s monumental storytelling. Towards the intermission of the film, the makers placed a surprise announcement teaser for a two-part animation film titled Baahubali - The Eternal War, directed by Ishan Shukla, from a story by Ishan and Sowmya Sharma.

Why Baahubali: The Epic is a whole new film altogether, and a lesson in editing

Upon its re-release, the film was well-received by audiences and fans. In its theatrical run, the film collected over Rs 50 crore worldwide, making it the highest-grossing re-released film, beating the re-release collections of movies like Sanam Teri Kasam, Tumbbad, and Ghilli.

Baahubali: The Beginning, released in 2015 became the first Telugu film to win the National Award for Best Feature Film. The sequel, released in 2017, went on to break box office records, grossing over Rs 1,800 crore globally, cementing the film's legacy in the history of Indian cinema and soared Rajamouli's popularity across the globe. The franchise stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in lead roles, supported by Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj and Nassar.

Meanwhile, a spin-off based on Kattappa's character is also reportedly in the making.

Currently, SS Rajamouli is working for his mega-budget film Varanasi, a teaser for which was released last month. The film, headlined by Mahesh Babu, also stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in leading roles. Prabhas is meanwhile awaiting the release of The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi. The film is slated for release in theatres on January 9.
