Recently, we reported about Babil Khan, actor and son of the late Irrfan Khan, making his Malayalam debut with a film, to be directed by Babu Janardhanan. On Sunday, the makers of the film announced Gandhi Bazaar Sunday Market as its title and dropped a poster offering a first look at Babil's character in it. Later in the day, the makers deleted the poster.

"A new story begins with a powerful new face. Proudly launching Bollywood star Babil Khan in Malayalam cinema," wrote Gurukripa Productions in the announcement post. Production on the film is set to commence soon.

As reported earlier, the film's cast also includes Aparna Balamurali, Nikhil Nair, Deepak Parambol, Johny Antony, Sudheer Karamana, Jagadish, Unni Raja, Jayashankar, and Athmiya.

On the technical front, Gandhi Bazaar Sunday Market has composer Nandhagopan V, cinematographer Fazil Nazer, and editor Sooraj ES.

The film is backed by Anilkumar Sivadas under the Gurukripa Productions banner. The makers are yet to reveal further details about the film's plot.

As a director, Babu Janardhanan is known for films such as Bombay March 12, starring Mammootty, the Meera Jasmine-Salim kumar starrer Lisammayude Veedu, and the Kunchacko Boban headliner God For Sale. As a writer, his credits include Varnapakittu, Achanurangatha Veedu, Chandranudikkunna Dikhil, Vasthavam, City of God, and Thalappavu.

On the other hand, Babil Khan is still young in his career. He made his debut with 2022's Qala, opposite Tripti Dimri, and went on to star in Friday Night Plan (2023) with Juhi Chawla, and Logout alongside Rasika Dugal. The actor also played a key role in The Railway Men, co-starring R Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, and Divyenndu.
