Anomie, headlined by Bhavana and Rahman, began streaming on Prime Video on Friday. The psychological thriller, written and directed by Riyas Marath, was released in theatres on February 6 before making its digital premiere on the platform. It marks Riyas' first directorial venture after co-writing the screenplays for Neeli (2018) and Diwanji Moola Grand Prix (2018).
Apart from headlining the film, Bhavana also co-produced Anomie under her namesake banner alongside Aadith Prassana Kumar of APK Cinema and producers Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak of Panorama Studios. The film also stars Shebin Benson, Arjun Lal, Vishnu Agasthya and Binu Pappu in pivotal roles. National Award-winning composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar, best known for his work on Animal, has composed the music, while Sujith Sarang wielded the camera and Kiran Das handled the cuts.
Anomie also received a Tamil-dubbed theatrical release on March 6, following its Malayalam release. An excerpt from the CE review of the film reads, "The film looks good, sounds polished, and is anchored by a committed central performance from Bhavana. But its high-concept ambitions are weighed down by familiar writing, excessive length, and a reluctance to truly break away from formula. It holds your attention in patches, yet leaves surprisingly little behind once everything is laid bare."
