We had previously reported about Emraan Hashmi reuniting with composer Himesh Reshamiyya for the upcoming action-entertainer Gunmaaster G9. On Wednesday, the makers unveiled the first single of their film, titled ‘Afsana Banaya Aapne.’
Also written by Himesh, ‘Afsana Banaya Aapne’ is a quintessential Himesh Reshamiyya love song, with frantic Tabla beats and rendered in his popular style with high notes and the nasal twang he is famous for. Asees Kaur is the female vocalist. Even the song title is a homage to Himesh’s iconic song ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne.’
The music video features Emraan serenading the female protagonist (played by Genelia Deshmukh), a reserved cafe owner who gradually gives into his charms, against the backdrop of serene and sunny Mussoorie streets. Gunmaaster G9 marks the first collaboration of Emraan and Genelia.
Talking about the overall album, Himesh said in an official statement, “The tracks of Gunmaaster G9 are completely in sync with the world of the film. To compose such great, audio-friendly tracks while being true to the story was a task. Working with Aditya is always a pleasure, as he has a great understanding of music.”
Emraan Hashmi added, “There is a lot of nostalgia attached to Himesh, Aditya and me coming together again. But the idea was never to recreate the past. ‘Afsaana Banaaya Aapne’ has its own emotion and its own place in Gunmaaster G9.’
Gunmaaster G9 also marks Emraan’s reunion with Aditya Datt — the two had famously worked together on Aashiq Banaya Aapne and Dil Diya Hai. Produced by Deepak Mukut, Hunar Mukut and Sangeeta Ahir, the film also features Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Singh in key roles.
Presented by Soham Rockstar Entertainment, the film is set for theatrical release on November 27.
